Abstract: PURPOSE: To evaluate the effect of recombinant bovine basic fibroblast growth factor(rb-bFGF) combined with slim-reducing aesthetic suture in the treatment of maxillofacial trauma. METHODS: A total of 98 patients with maxillofacial trauma admitted to Shangluo Central Hospital from June 2020 to June 2024 were selected and divided into the control group and the experimental group by the random number table method, with 49 cases in each group. The control group was treated with slim-reducing aesthetic suture, while the experimental group was treated with rb-bFGF combined with slim-reducing aesthetic suture. The clinical efficacy, wound healing, inflammatory factors [tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α), interleukin-6 (IL-6) and epidermal growth factor (EGF)], scar conditions [Patient And Observer Scar Assessment Scale (POSAS), Vancouver Scar Scale (VSS)] and incidence of complications were compared between the two groups. RESULTS: The total efficacy rate in the experimental group was significantly higher than that in the control group. The epidermal growth time, wound healing time and postoperative scar length were all significantly shorter than those in the experimental group. At 7 and 14 days after operation, the levels of TNF-α and IL-6 in the experimental group were significantly lower than those in the control group at different time points, and the levels of EGF were significantly higher than those in the control group. Three and six months after operation, POSAS and VSS scores were significantly lower in the experimental group(P<0.05). There was no significant difference in the rate of complications between the two groups (P>0.05). CONCLUSIONS: rb-bFGF combined with slim-reducing aesthetic suture can significantly improve the total effective rate of treatment for maxillofacial trauma, accelerates wound healing, reduces postoperative scarring, decreases inflammatory factor levels, and improves scar scores without increasing the incidence of complications in the treatment of maxillofacial trauma.
